What’s Happening at NTID?
One of the most important types of ministry in the nation would be a ministry to college students. Jeanne Behm is involved in that type of ministry furthering God’s Kingdom to a large population of the Deaf and hard of hearing students at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) in Rochester, New York.
Jeanne is a support for the deacon who is in charge of the bible studies for the Deaf. She summarized, “It's nice to have a male support person along with myself as a female support person to help them grow in the Lord in all the issues they face in college. We are encouraging / empowering students to take leadership roles on campus. That is to set up a Christian ‘club.’ (There are so many different clubs but none are Christian for the deaf.) It will be a good ‘club’ to be recognized on campus. We have other people working on website ideas to promote fellowship and prayer. This is the tip of the iceberg since my arrival last January (2009). God's been good in bringing students of different backgrounds. They are such an inspiration to me for each one is unique and special in God's eyes and I am learning that, too.”
Take a look at God’s faithfulness in expanding His Kingdom! Jeanne describes her part in the ministry: “I take one student quite faithfully to our church on Sunday mornings and this student is rounding up some more students to ride with us, too. We have one interpreter at our church. Our pastor is very good so far to meet the students' needs. The church is growing and so are we. We experience His faithfulness.”
Jeanne’s prayer request: “Pray for students to perform well in their studies but above all, for their hearts to continue to love the Lord.” Yes, let’s all do that faithfully!

My husband, John and I were blessed at Community Bible Church at Burlington, VT pastoring by Duane Somero church. The Lord touched the men and a person asked for forgiveness. He felt the Holy Spirit moved. We gathered to pray and I felt led by Jesus to lay my hands on each man to be bond together that can t be broken. Hallelujah. I am glad to rebuke the spirit of breakness to break down. It was beautiful.
John and I visited CBC first time for our mini vacation. Vermont is a beautiful state filled with lakes and mountains God created. Awesome!

While my husband and I attend Bethany Deaf Assembly, our son, Neil involved with hearing Bethany Asssembly and he loves God. He fell in love with a girl there. Her name is Jennisa. They were together for a long time and got pregnant. My husband and I were very sad and hurt. We had a very hard time going through with many big and small situations. They decided to get married last year in August and their daughter, Clara was born in January. She is a beautiful baby. Neil and Jennisa dedicated their daughter in our deaf church with Pastor Nick on Mother's Day. During the dedication, Neil mentioned he and Jennisa want to have full responsible with God's help and very blessed to have Clara. My husband and I are very blessed to have our granddaughter too.

Illinois and Wisconsin Ladies Gathered for Anchor Deaf Womens Ministry!
Anchor Speaker Karen Batts delighted us with her witty and humorous stories and at the same time encouraged us to keep trusting God in this uncertain time. We laughed and cried when Ms. Batts brought out one by one frog items detailing how God used all kinds of people to show His humor and encouragement. She amazed us with her childhood story of being hit by a truck, ending up with 17 leg and hip surgeries but how God was still with her. Examples of powerful pictures and films were also shown in PowerPoint illustrating the power of the Holy Spirit's anointing and cleansing.
Forty ladies gathered on Saturday, May 2nd, 2009 in Rockford, Illinois at Christian Deaf Church for an all day Anchor Deaf Womens Ministry (ADWM). Barbara Reu (Illinois) is the chair and founder of ADWM which first started in May 2003. At 10:00 a.m. we open with worship and songs then preaching until lunch time.
Several men rolled up their sleeves to bake lasagna and set up salads, desserts and bread for all of the ladies. Each year they've been there to help with lunch and even to clean up and wash dishes! Their ministry is a huge part in making ADWM successful. ADWM thanks them!
Then its back to more Word of God from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
The goal for ADWM is to encourage and uplift women from all walks of life using Hebrews 6:19 as our foundation. Karen Batts certainly encouraged and uplifted us with her life experience stories of how our God is phenomenal!

Prayer Request:
I have been visiting a Deaf christian lady in jail in Wisconsin once a month. I have been giving her Emory's and my sermon notes from power point so she can enjoy reading God's word. I am able to minister to her 1:1 for an hour after other sisters in the Lord visit her. She has a court date on June 4. Please pray for her what to do next.

Emory David and Maria Dively got their "Rev" AG License to Preach last April. It was the same place where I got my license, too, in April/1997. Praise the Lord for the next CODA generation to minister to the lost souls! Emory David is now a pastor at Deaf Dakota Hills Church in Apple Valley.
Minnesota: There are hungry souls in Rochester and Sister Nicki Melby, a 2008 NCU Deaf graduate, has been teaching God's word every Wednesday (210 miles round trip), since February, 2009. Her whole family (three children) joins with her. Twin Cities Deaf Assembly of God Church has been praying for years for someone to take over the ministry and the time has come! Nicki just preached the Word at their first service last Sunday. Three Deaf men had a water baptism service at the Deaf Men Retreat in Wisconsin. A Deaf lady had hers two weeks ago. More and more people are accepting Christ. She is planning to get her AG License to Preach. Glory to God!

34th Annual Deaf Workshop Update
May 1 - 2, 2009,
Friday & Saturday Liberty Deaf Church - A/G Theme: "Equip Us"
Bible Verse: Ephesians 4:12
Guest Speaker: Nick LeFors, Jr
We had total of about 35 attendees on both days, May 1 - 2. Nick's teaching were so anointing - most of his teaching got all of us to think twice especially in our drying time - so thankful to God for His perfect time. We all were grateful that we learned from his teaching that most leaders DO experience drying time - we all want to keep going (not giving up) for God - Amen! Feedbacks on Workshop: Angie P., Pontchoula, LA: This workshop did help me to improve godly way in me as a leader. I know we need to be reminded from time to time. I agree with Nick LeFors about keeping faithful to God. Also I learned about the drying time, we must stay with God no matter what it is drying time or not. It is God's testing our patience. We need to encourage other leaders who may feel their drying time. We need to support each other to keep going in the ministry. We pat on their back saying "Good job!" Nick encourages me to look forward as being leader for the deaf camp or my church. I want to thank Pastor Ron for inviting Nick to Liberty Church for us to learn about leadership. Thank you, Nick LeFors for teaching us. Regayna R., Baton Rouge, LA: Nick's Workshop helped me to maintain-stay faithful to God. We need to be an example to other Deaf Leaders. Reminding me to keep going in drying times.
So thankful for Nick's great illustrations to help me more understand God's Word so clearly.

This is a testimony from Drucie Kelly. This is something good that the Lord had been teaching her bit and bit until the day the Lord answered. Pastor Jim and I recalled that she really wanted to go Mexico as mission trip years ago. We told her that it has to be His timing. Good enough! This year She went to Mexico. She was so thrilled and learned so much and she is able to understand those people who are missionary to various country. She finds that it is challenge for each missionary, but the Lord has been with them. Let me add: One girl from this group, She said She realized how much American search for what they WANT, not NEED. But Mexican looks for NEEDS, not WANT. Pastor Jim and I were so glad that they are able to catch that point.Enjoy Drucie's testimony below. In His Cares,DAWN SMITH (Pastor's wife)

After my rededicating my life to Jesus in 2002, I was so moved by my best friend, Linda Gehm's stories doing the missionary with deaf children & adults in Mexico for 12 years. I wanted to do that right away in any country. But she told me "No" as I need to develop relationship with Jesus and serve Him right in our church. At that time, I thought "Impossible" as it was a very small deaf group just started in Maple Grove A/G Church in December 2001 with no deaf children or anything for me to help me with. But I knew that there is nothing that God can't do so I prayed and prayed for His will to show me how & what I could do to serve Him. I continued on going to MGC to learn God's Words through Bible Class and Service every Sunday and Bible Class on Wednesdays and reading Bible and Daily Devotion for the Deaf on my own times. Eventually, I started to be involved with Church activities and then a deaf child showed up at our church. Pastor Jim asked me if I wanted to help Nancy Knox (who had experiences in teaching Bible stories/lessons to some other deaf children at other Church in the past years). I was shocked when he asked me and Of Course, I said "YES" right away. So I knew that God answered to one of my prayers. I often wondered "Would I go on missionary trip or not", but I kept on praying that one day I would go out on a missionary trip. Then I forgot all about missionary trip as I got myself busy with Children Ministry and DTQ (Deaf Teen Quest) and one week at NW Christian Camp for the Deaf as a volunteer for 5 years going on 6th. Then last year, Eugene and Linda Gehm announced that Christian School for the Deaf-(Rancho Sordo Mudo) in Mexico accepted some Deaf Teens and 2 adults to visit & help them on the last week of March and first week of April, 2009. I prayed to God that if that's His Will for me to go there with the teens. Sure enough, I did get that opportunity. Pastor Jim, 4 girls, Alyssa, Irina, Maya, Natalya, I flew to San Diego, Calif then rode in a van to Rancho Sordo Mudo to meet with Eugene and Linda Gehm there and the staff and children there. We did 5 skits during their Service on Sunday and during the week Pastor Jim, 4 girls, Eugene & Linda helped with different things such as pulling weeds & painting Boy's dorm and I did the laundry. 4 girls lead the games every night and the kids there really loved them. I had fun socialize with the kids and staff. They had patience with some of my errors in LSM (Mexician Sign Language), but we had good laughs. I and even our group noticed that the children there don't have much, but they seem to be content with everything they have. Even for their Math Contest, they got chips instead of trophies. I think that our God and Jesus wanted us to see the differences between USA--the rich & spoiled and Mexico--the poor & generous and have more discipline & spiritual growth with God.
Thanks, Drucie

Texas River of Life Deaf Retreat News:
We had a wonderful time at Texas River of Life Deaf Retreat and hearing a powerful message Rev. Tim Moore had to share that God burden him with to preach and teach to the deaf people. The interesting thing is that our theme 'Heart Lift Up' Lamentations 3:40-41 connected because of the verses and what they say, "Let us search out and examine our ways and turn back to the Lord; Let us lift our hearts and hands to God in heaven." We must search ourselves, examine ourselves and turn back to the Lord. If you think you know it all about Revelation think again because you will learn something new and we all did. We were told that some people who had heard his preaching on Revelation could not sleep at night after hearing it. It doesn't matter if you have been in the ministry for years or how long you've been a Christian you are going to learn something new that you must be aware of, know and apply to your life.
There were 2 ladies from Mesquite, TX who attend a Baptist church in Ft Worth and they had planned to stay Thursday and Friday nights only. They became so into hearing what Rev. Moore was preaching to us that they decided to stay till Sunday morning! Everyone's eyes were glued and focused on Rev. Moore's preaching and the power point slides he showed us. He made copies of his power point slides for everyone using my printer so they didn't have to write everything down and miss something. Everyone who attended the retreat had a hunger to know more, learn more and be told more and during free time Saturday afternoon Rev. Moore taught more on Revelation to those who cancelled their free time plans to be present and learn more.
We had 49 in attendance and I am aware that 2 went to altar for prayer for back pain and one said pain was gone. One man who had wandered away from the Lord came back to the Lord 3 weeks ago and was at retreat. He asked forgiveness from those he hurt. I know that Rev. Moore's preaching opened everyone's eyes and the people went to the altar each service to pray.
