The MADMR retreat in Halifax Pennsylvania was coordinated by Chris Hughes and supported by several local pastors, including; Byron Skidmore as treasurer.  Ken Bell was the special speaker for the weekend and did a terrific job ministering to the men.  His encouragement to Grow and Change was presented very well; and it was well received.

A special offering was taken on Saturday evening for Ken and Chris to give to local ministries in the Dominican Republic this summer.  Although the men paid for their registration and gave an offering, they still had plenty in their hearts to give an additional $600.00 toward this special project.  Way to go MADMR's.

Thank the Lord...Death toll low, but damage high.

CONCEPCION, Chile - Chileans fearful of aftershocks camped outside Sunday in towns shattered by a massive earthquake, as officials struggled to grasp the scale of damage to transport, energy and housing infrastructure.

One of the world's most powerful earthquakes in a century hammered Chile early Saturday, killing more than 300 people as it toppled buildings and triggered a tsunami that surged across the Pacific to as far as Japan and Russia.

While the apparently low death toll could be considered a lucky escape from such a strong temblor, the quake dealt a serious blow to infrastructure in one of Latin America's most stable economies.

"The riches that you give are the only wealth that you will keep forever," (Quas dederis, solas semper habebis, opes)

The Haiti collection has reached approximately $2817.00 in one month.  All future giving will continue to be sent to the 'Friends of Montfort' collection point in support of the Institut Montfort School for Deaf/Blind Children, in Haiti.

As we have seen the need for the Haitian Deaf School being met, through you and many others, we know your hearts are open to the 'giving of alms' as described in Matthew 6.  Thank you for your generosity in giving.

Please, also, do not forget the 2009 Deaf missions projects that NF is still collecting for.  You can give at the www.nfdeaf.com/donations.html and designate for 2009 NF Missions ProjectsMore information on the 2010 Missions projects will be presented at the NF Convention in Minneapolis.

Much like this Haiti Deaf School project, 'it only takes a spark, to start a fire.'  And it we can be the sparks, together, that kindle a good Deaf missions fire.  Please consider adding NF Deaf to your monthly missions program.

Thank you for your good Matthew 6 giving.

Three more churches and/or individuals have contacted the Philly Deaf ministry to indicate that they have sent, or are planning to send, funds to add to the Haiti Deaf School Relief fund.

One of my favorite movies is "The Ghost of Dickens Past." It is a little known movie, but it's message is as great or greater than my other favorite movie, "A Christmas Carol."  In the movie, an especially important moment is when "Mr. Dickens" realizes that his need for money, as desperate as he is feeling, is nothing compared to the family who is living under a bridge in the middle of winter.  He responds to this thought by giving  a basket of food and a pouch of money for the family's housing and their young son's sickness. As he is turning to leave, the father in a confused voice, almost yells to him, "Why are you doing this?"  His answer?  "Because you need it...and I need to give it!"

Thank, everyone, who has given and those who are planning to give to this great need; not just because they need it, but because we need to give it.

Remember!  We began this collection less than a month ago with a $1000.00 goal in sight.  Would you look what the Lord has done through His people!

This is the second 18-inch plus snowfall this season.  Most east coast Deaf churches had to cancel services this past week due to the 'diggout' that is now in full force.  Some cities recorded snowfall in the 30+ range.  Philadelphia officials say up to 28 inches were dumped on the city.  Washington got similar amounts or more.

Worse yet, is that another storm is following on the heels of this one and is predicted to hit tomorrow (Tuesday and Wednesday); possibly bringing another 8 - 12 inches to Philadelphia.

Thanks for remembering in prayer, the churches and Deaf people who are slowly becoming buried : )

The Haiti Deaf School relief collection that began among Assemblies of God Deaf churches in America has, in less than one week, reached the $1000 mark.  The initial goal of $1000 that was set by Philly Deaf Ministries, was opened up to the whole of the National Deaf Culture Fellowship (NF Deaf), and has become evidence that Deaf people care for their own.

The goal is being raised now to $2500.00 as the amount to aim for in our support of our sister Deaf school in Port-au-Prince Haiti.  The $1000.00 will be mailed from the relief account this coming week.

To date, the funds collected have come from:

New Jersey
Pennsylvania
California
Illinois
New York

Thank you all who have given so far to this needful cause.
